We have tested these products for a variety of measurements, from viscosity to flash point and auto ignition, among others. NTS fluids testing facilities are equipped with computerized data acquisition, reduction and analysis equipment for monitoring the functional characteristics of specimens during testing. NTS has considerable expertise in high flow testing of small devices – such as meters, indicators, totalizers, sensors, transmitters, and check valves.

  • Portable Fuel Dilution Meter

    FDM 6000 - Ametek Spectro Scientific

    The FDM 6000 is a portable, battery operated fuel dilution meter that determines the concentration of fuel dilution present in an oil sample within a matter of minutes. The FDM 6000 uses a unique patent pending fang design to pierce the cap of a disposable sample vial and draws in the headspace from the vial. The headspace flows over a SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) sensor which reacts specifically to the presence of fuel vapor with a detection range of 0 – 15%. It can detect diesel, gasoline or jet fuel in engine oil. It conforms to ASTM D8004 - "Standard Test Method for Fuel Dilution of In-Service Lubricants Using Surface Acoustic Wave Sensing"

    The Energy Valve is a pressure-independent valve that measures and manages coil energy by using an embedded electromagnetic or ultrasonic flow meter, along with supply and return water temperature sensors. The Energy Valve also has the patented Power Control and Belimo Delta T Manager logics built-in that monitor coil performance and optimize the available energy of the coil by maintaining the Delta T. In addition to the standard analog signal and feedback wiring, it communicates its data to the building management system via BACnet MS/TP or BACnet IP. The built-in web server collects up to 13 months of data that can be downloaded to external tools for further optimization. Some of these features contribute to LEED points.

The SparkFun MLX90393 Magnetometer Breakout is a triple-axis magnetic sensor board capable of sensing very small fields, while still behaving as one would expect during saturation in larger fields (like a nearby magnet). The MLX90393 breakout can be used as a compass sensor but also works well as a non-contact controller, a flow meter with a magnetic impeller, or a linear actuator position sensor. To make it even easier to to get your readings, all communication is enacted exclusively via I2C, utilizing our handy Qwiic system. However, we still have broken out 0.1"-spaced pins in case you prefer to use a breadboard.

The term viscosity typically refers to shear viscosity, i.e., how a material reacts to being sheared. Rotational viscometers with rotating spindles or rotors, also known as "cup and bob" or Searle viscometers, are the most common tools used to measure the shear viscosity of fluids. However, a fluid's viscosity also may be measured on the basis of stretching. The technical term to refer to this is extensional viscosity.A viscometer is frequently used in laboratories, but it also has practical applications in factories and other industrial environments. A viscometer can be an important component in process and quality control.   • 6000 Series Digital I/O Modules

    Series 6000 digital I/O modules record signals from frequency counters, flow meters, encoders, discrete transducers, IRIG time, etc. which are often part of the test environment. These digital signals are time aligned and recorded alongside the system’s analog measurements. High density digital inputs provide an opportunity to easily include facility controls like switches, valve positions, relays, lights, etc. along with the test data. Series 6000 digital I/O modules also provide outputs generated by user command or automatically by Sequence, Alarms or DSP. User generated outputs are accomplished in software while sequencers can be programmed prior to a test and initiated by program or hardware control. Alarm conditions preprogrammed on the analog side can automatically generate digital outputs which are typically connected to facility control systems or PLCs.
